PRESS RELEASE - April 25, 2007

NEW WEB RESOURCE FOR ENGLISH-SPEAKING FAMILIES IN MUNICH

ON WWW.MUNICHKIDS.COM, PARENTS FIND INFORMATION AND RESOURCES ON HOW TO CARE FOR AND ENTERTAIN THEIR CHILDREN WHILE LIVING IN MUNICH

MUNICH - Getting along in Munich is a feat, in itself, if one doesn’t speak a word of German and arrives in the city with a baby in tow.  Deanne Knipple, an American, mastered this feat successfully after she and her husband came to Munich in 2004, for professional reasons.  Three years later, she is a mother of three and developer of the website, Munich Kids.  This website is the first English-language information portal of its kind, dedicated to family life in Munich.  On www.munichkids.com, launched in March 2007, the English-speaking community will find recommendations, practical tips, and useful contact information, to ease settling-in to, and everyday life in Munich.

Whether pediatricains, birthday party ideas, or excursion tips for a rainy day, the new website, www.munichkids.com proves it value through its versatility and delivers the suitable recommendations for every occasion.  Example topics include: child care, play groups, German language courses, kindergartens, family-friendly restaurants, and opportunities to participate in sports.  The author can even contribute suggestions for suitable hospitals for twin births!  German residents of Munich can also benefit from the Munich Kids website.  They may find resources and information on topics they were not yet familiar with, for example, the Deutsches Museum’s new Transportation Museum, or upcoming events to entertain the children.

For Deanne Knipple, one of the most important aspects of the website is the opportunity for parents to contribute information.  By following the link “Add your own info” from the main page, www.munichkids.com, one finds information on how to submit comments or add posts to the website.  This feature promotes the lively exchange of information and networking with other parents.  Although www.munichkids.com has been available for only a month, numerous readers have already made valuable contributions to the site.

Deanne Knipple was born in the U.S., near Chicago, in 1969.  After earning a doctorate degree in clinical psychology, she moved to the West coast for a position as a professor in school psychology at the University of Oregon.  After the birth of their first son, she and her husband moved to Munich.  She is currently a freelance writer and stay-at-home mom.
