Here’s something to boost your children’s - or your own - education. The
OnlinePolyhistoricum offers a highly qualified personal teacher who will
not only help you and your child with German schooling, but whose main
goal it is to awaken the yearning to learn in every one of his pupils.
To begin with, the teacher will meet your child on a regular basis once
a week for an hour or so in one of the many libraries in Munich. There,
they will find books and other media that will help your child achieve
his/her goals. They will also talk about their past week, identify new
interests, and find solutions to any problems that may have occurred.
The teacher will also hold an online chat with all his pupils once a
week at a designated time and will answer questions by email or by
telephone. There is also an online discussion platform for all pupils to
use, led by their teacher.
The teachers are all fluent in English and German as well as other
languages.
The Polyhistoricum supports both your child’s native language and
his/her acquisition of the German language: Books and other media may be
read in any language, but a certain amount of communication and written
work is done in German.
The Internetpage http://www.polyhistoricum.de is written in German, but
you can contact kontakt@polyhistoricum.de in English for more details on
this offer and a FREE TRIAL.
Special Offer: 10% OFF coming from the Munich Kids Website! Just mention
it in your contact email.
Due to an international cooperation pupils can now earn their
American Highschool Diploma at the Polyhistoricum! Please contact
kontakt@polyhistoricum.de for further details.

Are you interested in taking German classes at a low cost, relative to private language schools? Or looking for a pilates or yoga class without wanting to join a fitness club? Or just interested in starting a new hobby like painting, videography, or fashion design? The Volkshochschule can offer you a course on just about every topic of interest that you could imagine. The current program lists over 7000 courses. Courses are offered in Volkshochschule centers throughout the city. Courses are generally low-cost compared to courses taken through private businesses or schools. Many of the centers offer on-site childcare while you are in class.
The website is very thorough, but it is in German, and may take some time to navigate. If you are interested in taking a class in German as a foreign language, click on “Programm” from the home page. Next, follow the link to “Deutsch als Fremdsprache/Deutsch als Zweitsprache”. From there you can use the English Version to get some information. However, when it comes to the actual course listings, they are all in German. There are dozens of courses offered, at all levels of proficiency. Viel Gluck!

The Meeting Point is a German language school in downtown Munich, very close to Marienplatz. In addition to language classes, they offer a variety of cultural and social activities. Some examples are: a monthly “Kaffeeklatsch”; organized city tours; an 8-week “Munich Survival Package”; and assistance in getting your child settled. Classes are offered for children as well. For me, the biggest attraction of The Meeting Point was the fact that they offer on-the-premises childcare. I was able to take classes twice a week for 2.5 hours at a time, while my son was happily playing in the playroom next door. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Meeting Point and found it to be a great jumpstart to learning German.
