Munich Kids

I am an American mother of 3 small boys.  We have been living in Munich for almost 3 years.  When we first moved here, our oldest son was 1 year old.  I didn’t speak a word of German yet, and I didn’t know where to begin to find all the things we needed for expat life with a baby.  Luckily, we had some good friends who were able to get us started.  Since then, I have learned so much that has helped us negotiate family life in our new home:  finding a pediatrician, where to play on a rainy day, where to travel with small children in tow, how to find structured groups in English and German, how to find and choose an appropriate preschool, even the best hospital for delivering twins!  I began to realize that if all of this information was assembled into one place, it could be a great resource for other English-speaking parents in Munich.  I also envisioned it as  a place where other parents could add to the information available by posting comments to the editor.  I hope that you will use this site to answer many of the questions you might have about where to go and what to do with your children in this great city.   If there is a topic you would like to know more about, if you have suggestions, or if you would like to post some information, please use the “comment” button at the end of each post.  Each comment goes to the editor first, before it is posted.  This level of moderation is included to edit out comments that include offensive material, spam, or advertising.  Alternatively, if you would like to add an entry to one of the categories, e.g., if you would like to write about a kinderhotel you have visited or a favorite child-friendly restaurant, please e-mail me at munich_kids@yahoo.com.
