Resource list for kids’ destinations in and around Munich

June 13th, 2007 by Reader

The magazine Kitz is a great resource for families living in and around Munich.  It is written in German, but the format is easy to follow with just a basic grasp of the German language.  In the June/July issue (2007), they have published a great resource for families.  A 3-page table lists almost 60 places to take the kids (of all ages) this summer.  The table includes information on the type of activity, address, telephone, and website, as well as prices for adults and kids.  Even better, the first 23 places listed are free to both kids and adults!  Suggestions range from the children’s farm in Neuabing (free) to the adventure playgruond in Pfanderling (free) to Legoland Deutschland in Guenzburg (daily entrance price).  Pick up a copy of the magazine and hang on to this handy table to keep your kids entertained all summer.  The magazine can be picked up at many places that cater to children, e.g, libraries, kindergartens, etc., or by contacting the magazine headquarters.

Family-friendly hotel in Italy

June 13th, 2007 by Reader

Falkensteiner Hotel Lido Ehrenburgerhof

The following post is from a reader of Munich Kids.

My family have just returned from an extremely pleasant weekend in a wonderful child friendly hotel in Italy and I would simply like to share this info with you. The hotel is extremely child friendly and the service is also excellent. they are set up with a kids club up from age 3 and also have a large playground for kids in a wonderful setting around a little lake. they have great wellness facilities and a nice indoor/outdoor pool too.

The price is very reasonable and it pays to take half board as the food in the hotel in excellent. the buffet breakfast is abundant, they also serve a light lunch of pasta and salad and buffet dinner, except for the plated 6 course gala dinner on friday night. food is simply abundant.

If you want to get away for a relaxing long weekend this hotel is tucked away in the beautiful Dolomite mountains in Sud Tirol on the border with Italy.

A day trip to nearby Brixen (Brunico) is also highly recommended as it’s a very pretty Aldstadt.

Corretto Caffe- Kid friendly Italian restaurant

June 12th, 2007 by Reader

Corretto Caffe Holzofenpizzeria Bar

This is a very kid-friendly restaurant. The inside can get smokey but the terrace is wonderful. They have a slide for small kids and often children are playing in the back area amongst the bushes and the open space (all visible and fenced in by a brink wall from the street).   Amazing pizza with the most unique toppings. If my information is still up to date, there is a lunch time deal on week days - every pizza €5,50.  They also have an ice cream parlour where the kids can go and get their own ice cream after the meal. Cone or cup, whatever their hearts desire.

Address: Haldenbergerstr. 28, 80997 Munich (Allach)

Telephone:  089 / 14 34 81 48

Nearest Public Transportation:  U1 to Westfriedhof into Bus 164/165 stop: Waldhornstrasse, or S-Bahn to Moosach into Bus 162 stop: Haldhornstrasse then 3-minute walk from there. Good parking available.
